(December 11, 2019) – Sherita Traywick formally launched her state senate campaign. Traywick, a Democrat, is a member of the Greece Central School District Board of Education. She currently teaches Criminal Justice at Rochester Institute of Technology and previously served as a Legislative Aide to former State Senator Richard Dollinger.
“I often travel to Albany to meet with our representatives and I leave without assurances our problems will be solved. It’s clear the 56th District needs someone who can deliver on education, criminal justice reform and healthcare. I am running for the people of this district,” said Traywick.
Traywick earned an undergraduate degree in Sociology and Criminology from SUNY Cortland and a Juris Doctor from Quinnipiac University School of Law. Traywick grew up in the City of Rochester and graduated from Irondequoit High School through the Urban-Suburban program.
Traywick is extremely active in the community. She founded a nonprofit, Young & Gifted, Inc., that mentor and empower youth. Traywick was formerly on the board of Genesee Community Charter School. Traywick also served as Co-Chair of the Legislative Committee of the Monroe County School Boards Association.
